Connie is a nationally known leader in the field of developmental disabilities. With extensive experience in policy implementation and strategic planning, she has developed nationally recognized service models for people with developmental disabilities who are in crisis. Working with diverse groups of key stakeholders, she created the impetus that led the State of Indiana to adopt these service models and transform how pre-school and early intervention services, supported employment services, and community based services were provided. Her experience at leading and motivating executive teams and volunteer boards of directors allowed her to grow business revenue, improve customer satisfaction, and decrease costs. Connie is the past president of the National Association of Executives of The Arc and as president, led the merger of this organization with The Arc of the United States. Recognized as a strong advocate and leader, she has chaired and served on numerous boards and committees on the local, state, and national levels. Connie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana State University and a Master of Science degree from Indiana University, and has studied abroad at the Universite de Nancy in France. |
Carol Christopher, Director of IT

Carol has spent her entire career working with people with disabilities in a variety of capacities and brings 15 years of Information Technology experience to Tangram. After more than 2 decades of direct service and management in programs, Carol joined the Information Technology Department at a local non-profit agency. Having managed over 100 workstations in five locations and providing support to 200 users, Carol has been instrumental in implementing policies and procedures related to information technology assets and starting a new client database system from the ground up. As the IT Director for Tangram, Carol makes strategic technology development plans to meet the needs of the organization, leads implementation and setup of the data network, and executes maintenance of all network computers and printers. Her unique combination of experience in programming and IT allows Tangram to create solutions that directly benefit our clients and tailor our IT solutions so our program staff members have what they need to effectively provide services. Carol holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Evansville and a Master’s degree from Butler University. |
Steve Clossey, Director of Marketing/Properties and Assets

Steve brings over 17 years of experience working for human service organizations in Indianapolis with extensive experience brokering, coordinating, and ensuring quality services for individuals with disabilities and their families. His work has included case management services, facilitating programs that fostered transitions from high school to work for students, strategic planning, and program evaluations. Steve is managing the business development for the organization and strives to promote both the value and image of Tangram. He also directs and manages the property and assets of the organization. Additionally, Steve exemplifies all of the qualities of a highly effective life coach, another service he currently provides for Tangram. He is a good listener, demonstrates consistent and persistent follow-through, has outstanding interpersonal skills, and has an outstanding network of colleagues. Another valued asset to his life coaching services is that he is a life-long central Indiana resident who is well connected to his community. Steve is a graduate of Butler University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Public and Corporate Communication. |
Lynne Conant, Director of Human Resources

Lynne has spent 25 years in the human resources field and 20 of those years working with organizations that serve individuals with disabilities. Lynne is a current member of both the Indiana and National Society of Human Resource Management organizations and holds the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). She is passionate about her family and her employment at Tangram. Lynne advocates for the needs of our employees, our clients, and our business through effective personnel development and the achievement of business goals. A native East Coaster, Lynne received her Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech. |
Kathy Bernhardt, Director of Development

As the Director of Resource Development for Tangram, Kathy oversees the organization’s fundraising, marketing and volunteer management. Kathy comes to Tangram with 12 years of experience working with not-for-profits and fundraising in Illinois. Kathy received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech. Throughout her career, Kathy has been an avid volunteer and an active member of the communities in which she has lived. It was her avid volunteer work in the world of fundraising events that brought Kathy to the realm of fundraising for nonprofits. She is a past board member of the Retired Senior Citizen Volunteer (RSVP) program in Illinois. Currently, Kathy is on the board of the downtown Indianapolis Kiwanis organization. She is the co-chair of the Kiwanis member engagement committee, where she spearheaded the revamping of their orientation process for new members and still conducts the orientation for all new Kiwanis members. Kathy is also an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). |

Steve has been with Tangram since 2005, when he started working as the Director of Behavioral Health Services. With over 22 years of experience in the behavioral health field in various capacities in organizations throughout Central Indiana in the behavioral health field, it is no wonder that Steve received the Living in the Community Award from the ARC of Indiana. In the past, Steve has served as a board member for Best Buddies of Indiana, as a past member of Broad Ripple Sertoma, and on the advisory board of the Indiana Resource Center on Autism. Efforts to provide for an important community need and create operational growth and diversity led Steve to develop Tangram Life Coaching, a new business which became operational in 2010. Tangram Life Coaching matches a client with a coach and clinician to support positive life-change. With expertise in action-oriented quality-of-life improvement, Tangram Life Coaching was designed specifically for young adults with learning differences such as ADD, ADHD, Asperger’s, Social Anxiety and other challenges to create the life they want. Among his myriad of roles, Steve is also the Chairman of the Board of Education for Trinity Lutheran School. Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Purdue University and a Master’s of Science in Education from Indiana University. |
Melissa Steele, J.D., Director of Compliance and Risk Management

Melissa has worked in the non-profit field in Indiana since early 2004. She began her career as an agency compliance coordinator, and has worked in a variety of other capacities, including human resources, development and fundraising, and grant writing. Melissa received her Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her Juris Doctorate degree from the William S. Boyd School of Law. During law school, she worked with clients in need through an externship with Nevada Legal Services and was actively involved with the law school’s Public Interest Law Association. Melissa joined Tangram in 2010 to oversee the compliance, risk management and quality assurance procedures to ensure best business practices and the highest quality of service delivery. |

Angie is a graduate of Indiana University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She started her career in public accounting, moved on to corporate accounting, then settled in the not-for-profit healthcare field. Angie is a Certified Public Accountant who brings over 10 years of not-for-profit and healthcare accounting experience to Tangram, where she oversees all fiscal responsibilities for the organization, including payroll, financial statement processes, accounting responsibilities, taxes and audits. She is a member of the Indiana CPA Society and the ARC of Indiana. Angie and her family are especially passionate about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, as she is the mother of a young man with disabilities. |
Peter Zubler, Director of Operations

Peter has over 20 years of experience managing resources and supports for children and adults with disabilities. Prior to working for Tangram, Peter worked with the Indiana University Institute on Disability and Community and as a Medicaid Waiver case manager. He has consulted with high schools on youth transition programs and has provided counseling to endangered children in home settings and treatment centers. Peter joined Tangram in 2005 in order to implement Tangram’s unique service delivery model for every client served across our communities. Currently, Peter oversees the services of over 150 consumers participating in Tangram’s community services and supported group living programs, along with Tangram’s customized employment initiative, to ensure that services meet the Tangram mission. Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and an Area Certification in Environmental Studies from Indiana University. |
